If you already have a certified WAAS GPS receiver, you should be able to satisfy the ADS-B “Out” requirement by simply pairing this navigation source with a 1090 MHz Mode S “extended squitter” (ES) transponder to serve as your ADS-B datalink. The “out” signal is the only mandate at this time but it would be wise to consider an “In” signal reception as well. Instead of simply transmitting data on your aircraft’s position, vector, altitude and velocity for the ATC computers, ADS-B “In” and a compatible cockpit display system would enable you to utilize this data and track other aircraft in your vicinity.
